Mundus MAPP 2027 Deadline: How to Apply for Funding

If you want a funded master's in public policy in Europe, the Mundus MAPP 2027 deadline is the date to write on your wall: 1 December 2026. That is the deadline for anyone who wants to be considered for a scholarship, and it is only a few weeks away.

This guide explains who can apply, what the scholarship covers, and how to use the next few weeks well. You can also see the programme on our site: Erasmus Mundus Master in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP).

What is Mundus MAPP?

Mundus MAPP is a two-year Erasmus Mundus joint master's in public policy. A group of European universities runs it together, and you study in more than one country. You finish with a joint or double degree.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships are funded by the European Union and go to a limited number of top applicants. The programme's official site says they are awarded on academic merit.

When is the Mundus MAPP 2027 deadline?

The official Mundus MAPP financial aid page lists three dates for the 2027–2029 intake:

If you need a scholarship, the date that matters is 1 December 2026. Please check the exact closing time on the official admissions calendar, because we cannot confirm time zones for you.

Who can apply?

The official admissions requirements say, in short:

One of the admissions pages looks old, so please check the official page for the current grade and test-score requirements before you pay for any exam.

What does the scholarship cover?

According to the programme, an Erasmus Mundus scholarship includes a full tuition-fee waiver and a monthly allowance. The commonly quoted EU rate is €1,400 a month for 24 months, up to a maximum of €33,600 in total. Travel, installation and visa costs can be treated differently, so read the funding page carefully for what is and is not covered.

There is also one smaller Institutional Scholarship per study track, giving a 50% tuition waiver but no stipend. Because only a few top candidates are funded, the programme itself encourages you to look for other funding too.

How do I apply for the scholarship?

There is no separate scholarship form. You apply to the programme and tick your interest in funding in the Funding section of the main application.

  1. Read the admissions requirements and the admissions checklist.
  2. Choose your study track and order of universities carefully.
  3. Gather your documents (see the checklist below).
  4. Write your statement of purpose. The official limit is about 500 words, so every sentence must count.
  5. Ask your referees early. Recommendation letters must be received within about 7 days of you submitting your application.
  6. Submit well before 1 December 2026, not on the last evening.

What documents should I prepare?

Always use the official checklist as the final word. Requirements can change between intakes.

How can I write a strong statement of purpose?

Short statements are hard. Make three points clearly: why public policy, why this programme and its mix of countries, and what you plan to do with the degree back home or in your region.

Use real examples from your work or studies, not general phrases about "making the world better". Your own voice matters most, and selection committees can tell when a text is not yours. Ask someone you trust to read it and tell you where it is unclear.

Start with the official pages today, and plan backwards from 1 December 2026. At Merit Leaders we review and coach: we can read your statement of purpose, point out what is unclear and help you plan your documents, but the work and the words stay yours.
